DTN COMMENTS: The country is quiet this morning following yesterday's
moderate to active trade. Compared to last week Southern business was steady
while Northern deals were generally steady to $1.00 lower (basis Nebraska's
weighted average). Early estimates are that around 25,000 head moved in
Kansas at mostly 132.00, while Texas traded about 5,000 head also at 132.00.
Between 15,000-20,000 head sold in Nebraska ranging from 208.00-210.00,
mostly 209.00. Asking prices on cattle left on lists are around 133+ in the
South, and 210.00+ in the North. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with
light to moderate box movement.
